Start with the team context

During club season, extra training should fit what the player is already doing. Ask the team coach about the player’s role and development priorities. Share that information with the individual coach so the sessions support each other rather than leaving the child with conflicting instructions.

Use one recurring game moment

Choose a situation the player encounters often: receiving near the touchline, turning away from pressure or finding a passing option after winning possession. Work on the technique, then add a realistic choice. A small, relevant focus is easier for a player to recognize in the next match than a long checklist.

Adjust to the week

A tournament week may call for a different session than a week with no match. Discuss the team schedule ahead of time and ask how the coach can adapt the work. Avoid squeezing in extra training simply because a session is available; the player’s readiness and engagement matter.

Review actions, not just results

Ask whether the player noticed the practiced situation and attempted the right action. A good decision may still end with an imperfect pass. Record one useful observation to share with the coach. Skillability’s personalized training can focus on position-specific details and game decisions alongside the club season.
